What was your introduction to the Finance industry?
My introduction to the finance industry was freshman year of college when I attended an event ‘Women in Finance’ event hosted by Goldman Sachs professionals. I was still learning what the finance industry really consisted of and was intrigued by the professionalism of the panelists, and of course seeing how women were thriving in this challenging male dominated role. After this, my exposure to finance continued through more networking events and I soon grew to understand what the finance ecosystem consisted of.
What type of impact are you hoping to make in the ACE community?
The impact I am hoping to make in the ACE community is to allow everyone the opportunity to feel heard. I believe one of my strengths is being a great listener and truly understanding someone’s point of view. As an ACE member, I hope to allow other members the opportunity to feel heard and validated by someone. Additionally, I’d like to help in planning events/bringing in speakers with a diverse set of backgrounds - such as school & racial diversity.
When and why did women empowerment in finance start to become an important issue for you?
During my undergraduate career, I was President of the club Rutgers Undergraduate Women in Business, where we hosted many events to empower women in business. I met many professionals through this experience and connected with many women in finance who shared candid stories and experiences they faced as women in finance. I realized more representation was needed and more women talking about these experiences to a broader community was essential to increase awareness and open up the conversation.
What inspires you and keeps you motivated?
My family keeps me motivated! I’m extremely close to my mother and grandmother - both strong women I look up to in various ways. They instilled in me all the positive attributes I have and have shown me what resilience looks like! Additionally, I hope to be an inspiration for the young women after me to see someone being successful and breaking barriers who looks like them! I want to be this person, so that idea keeps me very motivated.
What are your interests and a fun fact about yourself?
I’m an only child! My little side hobby is exploring new restaurants and leaving reviews on Yelp (I am a Yelp elite, which is my biggest accomplishment - haha!). I also love health and wellness and trying to find ways to bring more mindfulness into our over demanding days. I also love to dance Latin music and enjoy reading in my free time.
